Im not sure where this question should go. But why on my 2010 Fusion Se is there no gas cap...and the door does not lock...So anyone can feel free to siphon my gas....

Inside the filler neck there is like a metal grate to stop a hose from ever entering the tank. If someone could even get somethin down that far which is why the car comes with the funnel. Im not worried about it and i have had gas stolen from my bronco. Even with a locking gas cap which are a joke anyone with a pair of pliers can open. hope this helped out some.

Hi cougarman. :D Your 2010 Fusion is equipped with a capless fuel system, as explained in the Owners Manual. All Ford vehicles will eventually have this capless system. The system is also equipped with an anti-siphon feature.

 

Yes, there is no locking gas door/flap. However, you can purchase a locking gas plug from your Ford Dealers Parts Department.

Your car also comes with a specially designed funnel in case you ever run out of fuel and need to add it yourself. This funnel allows access by engaging the two tabs on either side of the filler pipe.

 

A casual passerby would find it virtually impossible to get access for siphoning. Even before the Ford capless system, cars were equipped with anti-siphon devices. Nowadays, it's quicker and easier for gas thieves to just punch a hole in the tank.

 

As bbf2530 said, Ford sells a locking gas plug for the capless system. If it gives you peace of mind, buy one. I wouldn't bother but that's me. Do what makes you feel comfortable.
