cruise control question

I noticed the other day when I was on the interstate about 3 occasions after about 15 minutes or so the cruise would go off and the resume button wouldn't take me to my previous speed, and i actually had to turn the cruise back on and reset my speed.. is this normal

Not at all normal. I used to have a car that, if you hit a big bump the cruise would disengage. You have some sort of electrical problem. Hopefully, maybe just a fuse ready to blow?

Hi highway. :D As Desert Fusion stated, that is not considered normal behavior. Normally, to wipe out the previous speed from the "Resume" memory, the "OFF" button must be pressed. Even hitting the brake does not wipe out the previous speed setting from "Resume" memory.

 

So if you did not accidentally hit the "Off" button, you have a Cruise Control System glitch.

 

Still under Warranty? Bring it in for diagnosis and service.

hey thanks for the answers, yeah it is still under warranty (2008), i'm gonna try to get it to do it again just to make sure it wasn't user error and if it does i'll take in to the dealer for repair. In the back of my mind i was wondering if was some type of new safety feature.

The 2008 Ford Fusion User Manual states at page 77:

- If the vehicle speed decreases more than 10 mph (16 km/h) below

your set speed on an uphill, your speed control will disengage.

 

 

Besides that, I've had hit the OFF button on my cruise control without noticing it at first.

Normally when I hold the wheel in a wrong position, my thumb slips at the OFF button.

Never saw that until you pointed it out thanks :)... that may have been the problem as i could not get it to do it again it yesterday.
