Extended warranty from fordwarrantys.com. Is this a good/fair price?

Recommended Posts

I'm thinking I might go for their premium, covers everything pretty much 7 year/100,000 with a $50 deductible for $1285. What do you all think? I've never gone this route, but the amount of electronics in this thing makes me think maybe this would be worth it. I know drive train and hybrid system are warrantied for a a good chunck or more of the terms of this ESP, but this does cover instrument cluster, AC, anti-lock brakes, bunches of other stuff. I'm just really liking this car and how it drives and works.

Tell me your opinions . . .

Thanks,

Noel

Hi Noel. :D Your best bet is to check pricing at your local Dealerships (Ford and Lincoln-Mercury, and you do not have to purchase the contract from the Dealer you bought the car from) and also check pricing at some of the online sellers of the Ford ESP Plan, such as this one - LINK: Ford ESP

There are other online sellers (they are all Ford or Lincoln-Mercury Dealers). To find them, simply Google "Ford ESP Plan". You can purchase from any one of them, just be sure that they are selling the actual Ford ESP Plan, and not a third party Warranty.

This will get you your best price comparisons, as opposed to asking for price opinions here (just my educated opinion). Nothing wrong with asking opinions here, but until you price shop for yourself, nothing else matters.

Let us know how you make out.

Good luck. :beerchug:

Here is another online option---the lowest that I had looked at;

http://www.myfordwarranty.com/

No endorsement is given but I did use their quotes when the dealer offered the exact same warranty. The dealer was MUCH higher but when I told them that I could get the same thing online for a much lower price (and a hearty chuckle at his proposed price), they asked the price and matched it.

Hi Noel, there are a couple of threads covering this same topic although they could be lengthy, but I got exactly the same coverage for $1205 from http://secure.buy-ford-warranty.com (recommended by smr2112). I have the same thought about the electronics, although I'm glad to have extra coverage on the rest of the car too. Price is the key and bottom line is that I'm looking for value!

Thanks you all. Looks like this one, secure.buy-ford-warranty.com, is the lowest at $1,205. I'm going to think about it a while longer as that is a pretty good chunk of money to part with. Thanks again!

Just a suggestion. When I was negotiating the price of my Fusion, I showed the dealer the best on-line price I found (Printed the web page) and he matched it.

This way, it is added to the price of the car and can be financed if you are going that route.

If the on-line price will be taxed, by adding the cost to the car the sales tax is deductible when you file next April. Obviously if the on-line price is not taxed, you might be better off buying it on-line.

Consult you tax adviser before making a decision.

When I bought mine, no tax! I'm in CA and the seller, I think if I remember right, is in Indiana.

I got the FMPP (Ford Maintaince Protection Plan) when I purchased my car. Pre-Paid maintenance, I drop the car off, they fix, no charge for 5 years. Figured if the NAV ever went, that's a 2200 dollar touch itself. I also got Employee Pricing when I purchased my car, so all in all good deal.

Isn't the maintenance plan only for service work, not warranty work? Or did you get both ESP ad Maintenance? That same dealer offers Maintenance plan for 7 years for $1000. When I bring mine for my first oil change (free) I'll see how much they charge and decide if it's a good deal. Maximum 10 visits for that package.
