Not true. All current Ford audio systems are made by either Pioneer or Sony. This is per the Ford Motor Company (• In USA: 1 (800) 392–3673).

Not completely true. Ford has nothing to do with (and they couldn't care less about) what procedure Pioneer/Sony uses to update their head units. This is why Ford uses a radio that is 8 years old from Sony. Gracenote gives this right to the manufacture (developer) of the head units, not the company where those head units will end up at (again, this is per Gracenote). For 2010 Fusion, Milan, and Lincoln MKZ the radio model number is MEX-1HD. Sony is "supposed" to have an update available on the website, but somehow this slipped through the cracks and they were not aware of the situation regarding Ford Gracenote databases.

I think you are looking at the wrong head unit. The MEX-1HD made by Sony sure does not look like the NAV unit in my Fusion. As Waldo says, it's made by Clarion. :redcard:
