Oil Leak

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Just bought a 07 fusion with the 3.0, anyhow the dealer just dropped it off today, I noticed the bottom of the engine was wet with oil, I called to see if maybe they changed the oil, they said the didn't, I crawled under for a closer inspection, I noticed the torque arm for the engine was wet with motor oil, along with some pan bolts and the inspection rubber cover for the bell housing was torn (seems like someone has been there before) Dealer says the car was turned in by an elderly man (80's) who lost his license, and Carfax says all service data was done by the dealer who I purchased the car from. So far the dealer has been great offering to look at it, just didnt know if anyone else has had a problem in this area

Is this some type of enhanced report? I subscribed to Carfax for 30 days in the past when I was helping a friend investigate possible used cars from Autotrader, and I saw dozens of Carfax reports and all they indicated were registrations in one state of another, accident repairs (if reported and repaired through insurance), salvage actions, or maybe one or two other things that I can't remember off the top of my head. Did you actually see these details about the little old man on the Carfax report, or I wonder if this is a "little old lady from Pasadena" story that was cooked up by a salesman?? I don't know whether this stuff is really on there, it's just that I've never seen those details on the reports I viewed.

No, that info was provided by the dealer, it was sold and bought and serviced at the same dealer as I bought it from

Hi bweeden. :D TGhe Fusion is a relatively trouble free car overall, and there are no "common" problem areas which we would be able to point you towards concerning oil leaks. And since there are no common problem areas, it is impossible for us to do anything but offer wild guesses as to where the leak is originating from. Since the problem was there when you purchased, the Dealer should diagnose and repair the problem.

Also, just to point out (I am sure you know this but wanted to play it safe): Your 2007 Fusion has a New Car Bumper to Bumper Warranty (3 years/36,000 miles) and a Powertrain Warranty (5 years/60,000 miles). And the oil leak would be covered under either.

Let us know what the Dealer finds.

Good luck. :beerchug:

PS - While this is a good forum here, if you are looking for a Ford Fusion/Milan/MKZ that is a bit more active try the Ford Fusion Club: LINK: Ford Fusion Club. It has a very active and helpful membership.
