2010 Fusion hybrid in showrooms?

Recommended Posts

Does anyone who works at ford (or not) have any idea when 2010 Fusions will be at the dealer showrooms? Especially the hybrid, I would like to test drive one. I live near a large metro area, many ford dealers near here, so I am sure hybrids will be available, but I'd like to see one and drive one before purchase. My luxury car lease is up on around June 1, I am tired of buying premium and getting 17 mpg, and even though the car is gorgeous and drives fantastically and is 100% reliable, I am ready for 40+ mpg and happy to buy american, especially when this car appears to be very nicely designed. (I am 62 yrs old, I am a serious car enthusiast, I remember the bad old days of ford and gm cars which were terrible, but it is time to reward ford, which might alas be the only usa car co survivor; I hope this is not misguided).

HI Mark. :D Fusions should be arriving at Dealerships in March. As far as the Fusion Hybrid, getting your hands on one for a test drive may be a problem. As with the Escape and Mariner Hybrids, the allocations are sparse, with many going to the New York Metropolitan and California regions.

Many of those going to other areas will already have buyers lined up, and therefore may not be available for test drives.

I have 2007 MKZ and am contemplating the purchase of a 2010 MKZ, so I can attest to their excellent quality.

Best of luck with your quest. :beerchug:

I live just outside NY in suburban NJ. I will try out a regular Fusion in March, if I like it, I will put some money down for a hybrid then for the summer. Fully equipped, this has the same features as my nice M35x, and it is the same size as my wife's Acura TL. I do have access to another car too, so I can wait for what I want after I return the M35x.

Oh, one more thing: What is this 'triple white' color? I like white or black cars, just my own silliness, and the next is due to be white. Is there something 'special' about the triple white, is it a nicer white than the other white choice?

and thanks for the quick response,

Mark

It has 2 extra coats of paint (3 total) for a deeper, more interesting color. It really does look better than a regular single coat white paint and under certain streetlamps it almost glows. It's available on several Ford vehicles for several years so it won't be hard to find that color on the lot to see it in person.

As far as March arrival, another forum reports job one as late as May. I had earlier read that assembly was to begin next week. (Feb. 2). Timing is an issue for me. Has job one been delayed 3 months? Although I am flexible, this also means a delay in confirming scheduling of my Oct '08 order. I may need to consider an alternative, i.e., a Fusion I4, or Escape Hybrid.

Last I heard was that Job 1 for the Fusion/Milan Hybrids will be Feb. 4. Scheduling began 12/11/08. No word yet on the 2010 Escape/Mariner Hybrid dates.

Thank you, Grey. I'll hang in there.

When I called a local dealer yesterday about allocation he said that these cars are being sold on a 'first ordered, first delivered' basis, so you should be good to go.
