Winshield Wiper problem

Recommended Posts

So i go to use my winshield wipers today and my drivers side one will not move. The passenger side moves and works fine, but the drivers side won't. Anyone have any ideas as to what the problem could be and a fix?

thanks.

Hi Jaydogg. :D One possibility: A disconnected wiper motor transmission arm. Passenger transmission arm is connected, drivers side is not. If your car is still under Warranty (3 years/36,000 miles) take it in for service and let them fix it.

Good luck. :beerchug:

Hi Jaydogg. :D Without being there to assess the situation, it is impossible to say whether you would be able to fix it yourself.

I was only taking a guess. We can't even be sure what the actual problem is.

At the very least, you would need to remove the cowl grills to gin access to the wipers, then you would need to diagnose and fix the problem. That may or may not entail purchasing replacement parts.

However, considering the fact that you say you are "not great with cars", I would recommend bringing it in for Warranty service. If you try and repair it yourself and accidentally break or physically damage another component, it may not be covered under Warranty.

In the end, why pay for replacement parts that would be free under Warranty, and why take the chance of damaging something when the Warranty repairs are free?

When you call for service, ask for a courtesy car (a loaner). Many Dealers offer that service, and it makes the service visit easier to fit into your schedule.

Good luck. :beerchug:
