HID's in the Fusion

Recommended Posts

Just wondering if anyone installed a HID conversion on there Fusion? If so did you use a harness or direct plug from the headlight sockets to the ballast's? Do you have an issuse w/ the headlight message in the message center? Thanks. Anyother comments would be great.

I finally got my HID'S installed and it is relatively easy install except for the confined space to work in on the passenger side. The first go at it the lights worked with the lock and unlock button but would not work with the light switch. After calling tech support to have them tell me what I already knew was the problem they sent me a resistor pack for a remedy. Where the HID'S only use 35 watts the computer was closing the circuit, but once I installed the resistor pack and made it actually pull 55 watts I haven't experienced any other problems. I have only been using them for 3 days now so I will keep you posted if I have any problems.

I just found a web site that i will probably purchase a kit from. it is mobilehid.com they even test the oher kits . i know that that can be alittle unfair but facts are facts. goggle each maker and read the reviews. the philips kit and the mobile hid are the only 2 that i think had mostly all possitive. even if they were not they still had good customer service for problems. hope this helps will update when i get the kit.

Hey buddy,

I have the exact problem. HIDs are 35W. They work fine till I start the car, then they kick off after a few seconds. Do you know who I could contact to get the same or similar resistors? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Sorry guys. I just don't understand this whole HID hype.

My MKZ has factory HID headlights.

My Conti has regular QI headlights.

I do a lot of long distance night driving and I don't have any difference seeing between the two light sources. Yes, the HID may be "whiter" than the QI, however I don't see any better with them. My owners manual says that if a headlight burns out, not only must the "bulb" be replaced, but also the Ballast must be replaced. Wonder how much that will cost me?

Years ago, I used to drive a lot in France. (Still do). Before Europe unified, France mandated that their car headlights had to be yellow. I drove all over Europe with yellow headlights, and never had a problem seeing at night. Matter of fact, because yellow is the opposite of blue, and because there is a lot of blue at night when the weather and lighting conditions are not perfect, and yellow filters blue, I found I could see better with the yellow (French) headlights. This is why in this country, they sell "Yellow Night Driving Glasses" and why "Fog Lights" are yellow. They all filter out the blue. (I also wear "Blue Blocker Sunglasses in the daytime for better sight). Now that Europe unified, the EU has mandated that all EU countries must have (mostly) the same laws, so France had to go with white headlights.
