2014 Fusion, weird buzzing noise

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

I have this odd buzzing noise coming from under the hood. This is my first hybrid so it may be perfectly normal, but i was wondering if anyone can tell me what it is? It seems to be coming from the passenger side around the wheel well, sorta sounds like a cooling fan is dragging the housing or something. I am linking a video so you can hear it, i moved the camera around so maybe you can get an idea where its coming from. I guess i should mention that it doesn't seem to do it all the time.

Thanks all!

It may be a noisy electric vacuum pump put that should only be on for about 10 seconds.

Likely your air conditioner. Try turning it off to see if it goes away. The AC is noisy anyway so if it's not that, turning it off will help to better isolate whatever it is.

I think that is likely the sound also. I hear it in the garage after the car is parked but it runs for a lot longer than 10 seconds on mine. It might be up to half an hour. Note that on mine that buzz seems to be coming from the rear of the car as opposed to under the hood.

I think it may be this, the sound does go away when i turn the AC off. It doesn't do it all the time though, it will stop after the car seems to warm up. Any fix for it or just part of owning a fusion hybrid?

Thanks for the replies, sorry i haven't replied in a bit.

just part of owning a fusion hybrid?.

I don't hear such a noise with my 2015 FFH.

It is going to sound like an airplane taking off when you turn the AC on. Because it's a variable compressor, the noise dies down A LOT after it has been running for a few minutes.
