2018 SE hybrid with sagging passenger door

Recommended Posts

I just bought my 2018 hybrid 19 days ago and it was a corporate rental fleet car. It's in excellent shape of course and has around 32k on it. My problem is I didn't really notice a passenger door sag problem even though I was as thorough as possible and even had the dealer put the car on a lift so I could really inspect the undercarriage. I used to be a toyota and lexus mechanic and have a good idea of how to find body work damage or evidence of any kind of major wreck repair. The door sag seems to have appeared in the last week and now I don't know if I should try to get the dealer to fix it since it was "as-is" and I took delivery or I should just take it to my local ford dealer and let their body shop take a look at it. I would say there is a good 1/4" drop when the door is opened and it really bothers me of course. The carfax didn't say anything about a wreck and the door and front passenger fender look like factory paint to me. Do you guys have door sag after just a couple years?? Is this something I can adjust myself or anybody has had to mess with? I didn't expect this kind of problem for at least a few more years.

Why wouldn't is be covered under the 3/36K factory warranty in spite of the "as-is" condition? Yes, let your local dealer determine if it was wrecked or not.

Well this is my first time to buy a car with any kind of warranty at all. I did also buy a 3rd party extended warranty that supposedly is bumper to bumper up to 90k. I guess my main worry is that the sag is due to an undocumented damage and repair.

So nobody else has had any issues with doors sagging at all? Could some people with older fusions comment on this please?

We own one of the first 2nd Generation FFH off the assembly line. 2013. First I ever heard of such.

I am going to suggest just a bad weld or maybe somebody had some excitement getting out of a garage. Like all unibody cars, if it were a wreck, it would not drive straight and you would know it in 5 seconds.

I have a 2018 SE no issues with doors, my 93 Escort has a sagging driver door:)

Another thing I want to point out is Enterprise/Hertz have in house repair teams so if its a rental they will repair it and there will be no record on the carfax.(not sure what company had your corporate car) I know when I asked about sagging doors on the escort someone suggested using a floor jack with rubber to try and get a better fit but I would HIGHLY not recommend doing that to your car.
