Type of fuel injection

I'd like to know what type of fuel injection the Ford Fusion Hybrid uses. (My model year is 2017.) Is it port, direct, or both port and direct? If it is direct only, it will no doubt suffer from the same carbon buildup issues that plague earlier EcoBoost engines, after they exceed 30,000 miles or so.

I can't answer the question but it is an Atkinson cycle engine, not a more common Otto cycle engine. One major difference is that the intake valve opens before the end of the exhaust stroke resulting in blow back into the intake manifold.

It's port injection. I don't think the intake valve opens before the end of the exhaust stroke, I think it closes late in the compression stroke. The FFH gets carbon buildup but it usually doesn't cause problems until after 100k miles.

Do you mean after the car has been driven 100k miles, or after the gasoline engine has been driven 100k miles. On my car, the gas engine is on only about half the time. So if the car has been driven 100k, the engine wears as though it has only been driven 50k miles. This also helps prevent the engine from overheating.

100 K car miles. Its random after that and may never occur. The easiest solution is to replace the throttle body which is an easy back yard mechanic job. I think it costs about $250. The other solution is to clean it but you have to take it off to do that and you have to be careful not to damage the mechanisms while you scrape off the carbon with a wooden tongue suppressor or similar tool. I've never done it, just read about it.

With 212k miles I have never cleaned my Throttle body, but I do use injector cleaner 10k-20k miles and get great MPG's. :)
