I've searched around, haven't found an answer for a newer Hybrid.  Looking to put winter tires/wheels on my 2017 FFH Titanium.  I'd really prefer to put 16" steel wheels and winter tires on to save about $300 over a 17" package, but finding ambiguity.  I have 18" wheels now, I know 17" will fit.

I saw a thread that it worked on a 2013, so there's hope.  Anyone done this? I'm an absolute believer in winter tires, so I need to figure this out.

Thanks in advance!

Generally rims/wheels should not vary more than one size +/- from OEM.  I know that if you have 18" rims and get a front flat, any donut spare should go on the rear as steering, etc would get messed up.  I have to assume running 16s all around will mess something up.

I run 17" rims year-round altho the non-Winter set is from TireRack and used on my prior FFH.  I put the factory tread on them for non-Winter use and snows on the factory rims for Winter..  I have a donut spare but with 17" rims it won't do much harm if used.

Have you tried salvage/junk yards for any Fusion 17" or 18" rims in decent shape?  Model year 13 and up should do the trick.  Cost would be lots lower than new ones from TireRack or others.
