how many miles on odometer when oil change reminder comes on?

Recommended Posts

my oil change reminder light just came on at approximately 5000 miles on the odometer since the last oil change. I do the oil changes myself and I reset the oil life at the last oil change. I am confused since the owners manual recommends the oil change at 10,000 miles. Anybody know how many miles when there oil change reminder warning light comes on?

You have a "smart" oil minder, so it's adjusting for things like your driving conditions, warm up times, engine loads and so on. If it's coming on early, then it's found something that you're doing that falls in to the "severe service" side of operation. Best to follow it's recommendation.

My oil change "reminder" appears at 500 miles before 10,000 miles since the last oil change (which I have done at the Ford dealer).

now I know why my oil change reminder light came on prematurely, I forgot that last month I ran my fusion on the Rubicon trail ( I think that falls under "severe duty").
