Thank you. I'm still learning how to drive her properly to get the best MPG's but I'll get there.

That is a great looking car!

Hybrids are different beasts altogether from conventional powertrains. It'll change the way you drive. If you've never owned one before then you have a lot to learn!

This is my first hybrid and I'm still trying to figure everything out.

Example when it says how many miles I have left in my tank i.e 200 miles is that gas and EV miles or just gas?

I am also confounded by all this EV stuff. When I parked my car tonight I saw the display below (click on image preview).:

What does it all mean?

Trip Summary

Distance: 51.4 miles
           17.7 EV miles
           1.9 Regen Miles
Fuel Use: 43.2 MPG

Brake Score: 94%

What does this mean?  My guess..

  • I drove 51.4 miles from "Start Engine" to "Stop Engine".
  • Of those 51.4 miles, the high-voltage battery (HVB) took 17.7 miles of the load.

What does "1.9 Regen Miles" mean?  Sounds wimpy..

I hope someone answers your question Stlouis because I have those exact same questions. I've been searching the net tonight for answers and I haven't got anywhere.

Regen miles is the miles that you drove that are attributed to energy that was put back into the battery by regenerative braking.  If you get a regenerative braking score of 100% it means that you recovered all that was possible during that stop.  If you can start braking early enough the car can be brought down to 5 mph without engaging the friction brakes.  This is difficult to learn if braking has been done by slamming on the brakes at the last instant in the past.

You are pretty much spot on. But just to clarify, the 17.7 EV miles represents miles driven with the ICE turned off. 1.9 regen miles isn't wimpy at all. It's basically 2 free miles that you would not have gotten in a conventional vehicle. And a brake score of 94% is really good even for an experienced hybrid driver. It basically means that 94% of the vehicles kinetic energy was recaptured and put back into the HVB for later use. The vehicle will also convert and store gravitational energy as well if you coast or brake down a hill which can then be used to ascend the next hill.

For the non-plugin hybrid it is the estimated miles that can be driven with the remaining fuel supply. Don't think of it in terms of EV + gas.
