Trim Issues

Recommended Posts

Before my next oil change at the dealer, I wanted to check with you guys on two trim issues that I recently noticed.

1. For a while, I've heard a rattle coming from the driver's side rear. Ends up that a small plastic trim piece behind the door handle has two broken tabs and is loose. Temp fix was to put it in place and wedge a piece of toothpick at the bottom. Rattle gone. Anyone else have/had this issue?

2. Passenger side rear piano trim around the window switch is bowing upwards. I'm assuming the cold weather has something to do with it. Tried lightly to push it down but didn't want to break it. Anyone seen this issue?

Hopefully my Ford Premium ESP warranty will cover both issues but I would be surprised if it did.

That panel behind the door handles is a PITA. I had the door handle recall done and I've had to replace all four panels. The tips on the backside break off easily. The dealer offered no assistance on this even though this issue didn't start until they did the recall. They are $22 and change apiece. The parts department ordered them through the Ford parts warehouse. Parts Manager said this is a know problem with these.

Thanks for the info hermans. My panel may have been broken in the same manner. $22 for a small piece of plastic is high but doable.
