Sync/MFT Reboot Issues

Of late, I have noticed couple of issues with the MFT/Sync on my Fusion.

1) The Navigation said SD card error, popping it out and putting it back did not help. However, the power recycle took care of this issue.

2) The whole unit became unresponsive on my commute to work, and then I suddenly see the Ford logo and screen turning off. Then, I see a progress bar with message saying "Running Scheduled maintenance" or something along those lines. During this time, bluetooth, aircon were not operational.

 

As my car is still under warranty, is this something that I need to get looked at asap?

Translation

 

"Running Scheduled maintenance"  =  The software got into trouble and is rebooting.  Most likely all available ram was allocated because some novice programmer failed to return no longer needed ram to the pool.  Also known as a "memory leak".

 

Your dealer can't fix it.  Only a new release of the Sync software can fix it.  I don't expect to ever see another release since they have moved on to Sync 3.

 

Don't remove the SD card while the car is on.  It is unlikely that they provided code to handle an SD card that disappears while it is in use.
