I just noticed something ...

In the list of features in the FFH Titanium package 700A, it notes "Individual Tire Pressure Monitoring System" versus what (I think) has previously been "Tire pressure Monitoring System".

 

Could this mean that FFH will (finally) tell you which wheel is low should the warning come on? Camaro has had that since at least the '15 model as my girlfriends car politely tells you which wheel AND the pressure!

 

Please tell me it's so ... it might make me go look at a '17 once more ... even tho Terracotta Leather is NOT available, nor is heated steering wheel without buying a whole damn package - along with a couple other gripes.

 

Edit: If you are spoiled by ACC and want it in the '17 model, it will cost you over $2600. ACC with Stop-n-go is $1190 (up from $995 in '15) BUT requires adding the Driver Assist Package @ $1575 more! This package contains:

• Auto High Beams

• BLIS® (Blind Spot Information System) with cross-traffic alert

• Heated Steering Wheel

• Lane Keeping System

• Rain Sensing Wipers

• SYNC® Connect

Can someone tell me what in that package is seemingly a necessary part of the ACC?

The part that raises the average transaction price... but as for relating to functionality, maybe (probably?) none of them...

Thank you! That's my point exactly ... why is an added $1500+ shoved at me for an enhanced version of Adaptive Cruise? <shakes head> The TPMS almost had me - I've hated no clue as to the tire. But the DA package has only the heated steering wheel that **I** would consider. I have it now - got it as separate option - and love it. No use for the rest. <sigh> Foooeey ... Ford almost got me again. Almost.

I think the new generation of ACC that includes stop-and-go requires the camera from the lane keeping system for input.

I know that the New Explorer show you individual tire pressure (psi) in the left screen of the cluster. Pretty sure It will be on the Fusion.

Yes it shows individual tire pressures for each tire.

Okay - that's a plus. Let me ask you ... can you turn OFF any or all of the following: auto highbeams, rain-sensing wipers? By OFF I mean in the settings of either the left screen or thru the vehicle settings in center stack? The wipers would then be simple wipers as I have now and if I wanted highbeams I would need to turn them on as I do now.

You can do that in the 2013-2016. Don't know why you'd want to though, both features work great.

rain sensing wipers turn on in car washes unless they are off, do they not? as for high beam usage ... I'm old school ... I want to determine when they should be on or not. my brother has lane-keeping and I know that can be set off. In the area where I am we're lucky to have ANY lane markings except on major highways and Winter eliminates them completely. Brother is in NC so can use it regularly.

 

See, I'm trying to justify in my mind why I must get a driver assist package at US$1500 or so when it has stuff I choose not to use. If I can set those off then I am happy and the next owner of that car gets some bonuses. <shrug> Only thing that the package has that I absolutely love is the heated steering wheel. It baffles me how that is a driver assist however.

With the rain sense, all it really does is adjust your interval settings. If you have the stalk in the off position, they will stay off. If you put the stalk in the on position, they will stay on. With lane keep, if it doesn't pick up lines, it will essentially be off anyway. You can also adjust the sensitivity and there's always a hard button to turn it off. I use high beams so rarely (mostly city driving) that I'm occasionally surprised when the system turns them on, and I think "Oh yeah, guess I could have used the high beams". You can always turn them on manually even when the system is on and if they come on when you don't want them to, you can always just flick the headlamp switch to "ON" instead of "Auto". And of course you can permanently turn the system off in the menus.

My parents own two Lexuses with rain-sensing wipers. The stalk has a "fully off" position, a "turn on when sensing water" position, and finally the standard manual positions you see in other cars. At a car wash you'd only need to flick the stalk one notch to fully-off if it's in automatic mode. I reckon the Ford is like that.

 

I do agree that having more a-la-carte options would be better - it was true of 2013-2016 models (you could even delete spoilers from the Titanium!). I suspect Ford's sales data showed that the majority of customers who buy options like adaptive cruise, BLIS, etc tend to get pretty much all the options, so they decided to add these restrictions to simplify the production process.

 

At least so far, the moonroof isn't forced on you except at the Platinum trim, and the driver-assist stuff is fully available on the SE.

 

Btw, I also just noticed something when watching a review - there is now a "visual parking aid" on the 2017 Fusion, which I already saw on an Explorer and in various Lincolns as well as the European Mondeo. Basically, when the parking sensors go off, an overhead graphic showing exactly which side detected the obstruction will pop up on the screen. Now I have more incentive to upgrade after graduate school.

Well, I am exploring the '17 a bit further after getting the knowledge that the unwanted "options" of the DA package can be off if I wish. Visual parking aid is a definite plus as is the improved TPMS warning setup.

 

I went to the dealer - who had exactly 1 '17 on the lot - to see what the colors of Burgundy Velvet and Lightning Blue look like. The one '17 they had was the Burgundy. For the life of me I cannot fathom why that color is an added-cost color. No metallic specks nor is it a pearl type of color as Ruby Red is. Not impressed with it ... so I am looking at possibly an SE in the blue or Ruby Red but I want to see the blue. Color chips were also not in yet, so no luck there. <shrug>

 

Current incentive - US$1750 - ends July 5 and based on what it took for me to get the current FFH, I would not take delivery by then even if I ordered now. So I may end up waiting until year-end for another incentive drive. At current 80 miles/day average that will put me near 45K miles and maybe more by then - on a 2 model year old car. There goes trade value - worse than now.

Also so you know the lane keeping system works only at around 40 mph and higher. And yes all options can be turned off in settings.
