Strange crack sound like windshield just got hit?

I have been meaning to ask and see if anyone else has noticed this oddity. Every so often I hear what sounds like a stone just hit my windshield, it makes that crack sound, only once and there doesn't seem to be a pattern. I keep looking for that stone damage when I hear it and nothing, which is good, but wth?

My backglass does that. It's due to cold weather and sometimes ice between the windshield/backglass and the body. When the cabin is hot, the sound goes away. Is it your case?

I'm still trying to nail it down but I'm sure it is the front windshield. Seems like I heard it during the summer when there wasn't much variance in temp too. Strange and it is not frequent enough to deal with it.

I've noticed this once in a while also on my FFH. I think it is an expansion/contraction issue between materials. I have a dell 24" LCD monitor and this thing emits loud cracking sounds after it is turned off and is cooling down. I think the causes are similar.

On a cold day when I park any of my family's cars in the garage after a day out, and get out, I can hear continuous cracking noises coming from the undersides. It's just a natural effect of the temperature differences.

We have also noticed this. Only in the Fusion & not in the Focus Electric.
