Break-in period and MPG

I just put 1000 miles on my 2016 FFH. The manual says MPG will improve after break-in period (2000 to 3000 miles). Did anyone really monitor this?

I did not experience that. I got great mpg my very first trip (with less that 200 miles on the car) and it's stayed about the same since then, varying with conditions.

Engines have not required break-in for many years. The tires and the driver are what need to be "broken-in". This is especially true if the driver has never driven a hybrid before.

I'm at around 780, and the 'lifetime average' is at 46, and current tank is at 50 and change. Mostly suburban 'dad's taxi' duty. The mild temps have allowed rapid warm-up and not needing A/C, so it's the 'ideal weather conditions'. So, if the FE gets better as the miles accumulate, I'll be even more amazed. :yahoo:

There is no significant break in period for the car. There is a big break in effect from the driver. Lower temperatures produce large decreases in mpg. For those buyers who buy in the later part of a calendar year in the northern hemisphere, improvements in their hybrid driving habits are often not noticed until warmer temperatures arrive.
