Engine temp gauge

Hi everyone,

 

Question for you folks. I been driving a 14 Fusion for the past couple of years. On my left hand screen I have the option to see the engine temperature in one of the displays. On another 14 Fusion I do not have this option. I have just purchased this one. Both were built 11/13 and are actually 6 numbers apart on the VIN so built pretty much within minutes of each other. My other Fusion for work is a 16 and it doesn't have this display either. Any reason why? I understand that the engine temp will fluctuate more in a hybrid and maybe this was cause for concern for some customers. So Ford just eliminated that display. Does anyone know why? Possibly is this a newer version of software on it?

Hi, welcome to the Forum!

In the 2014's Owner's Manual, page 92, it tells of the engine coolant temperature being in the MyView screen.

For the 2016, that same info is on page 100 of the OM.

Is that where you are looking?

 

Maybe the Owner's Manuals are not correct, we have seen errors before.

You have to select the temperature in the MyView section, if you haven't done that, then you will not find it.

I don't you for you, but there's no way I can dispaly the Tach (rpm) and temp in my 2014 cluster. I know you can for the regular gaz fusion, but for the hybrid?

I see the temp through Engineer mode when I'm running some test.

Maybe I have a different software as mine is a Canadian car.

And BTW, does anybody knows what the Switch Inhibit in vehicule's menu does?

I have a 2015 and I was able to successfully configure both the Tach and the Coolant Temperature in the "MyView" display. I don't think that was new on the 2015s so I suspect you can configure them also. The owner's manual describes how to do this.

 

Later I decided the Accessory Power was more useful/interesting than the Tach and I changed the "MyView" to display Accessory Power and Coolant Temperature.

That's Odd, my cousin has Explorer, which has the same cluster, and got him configured with tach and collant temp. On my Fusion, I don't have that option in my view. The tach I see, It doesn't show the RPM, just 4 bar with a gray line, still no collant temp. In the Explorer, your scroll right to get the infos you want to display (what the manual explains). My Fusion only let met change the battery infos display.

Maybe a software difference between US an Canadian Fusion, just like you guys don't have DRL but standard for us?

On my FFH, there is a setting in the left screen to allow Daytime Lights On or Off. If set to on, then the Auto setting of the headlight switch will turn them on when the transmission is out of Park position. Otherwise, they are not on.

 

I have not tried the Tach in MyView, but I use the Fuel History and Temp in it at present. I flip between that an the EmPower screen.

The hybrid has a completely different cluster set up than every other Ford vehicle. There is no "MyView" in the Explorer. I can set MyView to have both the Tach and the coolant temp in my 2014 Canadian Fusion. You do realize there are two different MyView selections? You have to scroll right twice to change the one to show the coolant.

BTW the tach is completely useless on the hybrid. It can help you learn how it works, but once you understand it, you will realize that the RPMs have absolutely no relation to your driving situation.

Don't need the RPM, but engine collant temp can be usefull over winter. In Myview, when I scroll right, which I can only do once, I can only access infos related to the battery. Keeps getting weirder. Anyway, not a big deal.
