Muffler condensation

Recommended Posts

I'm not really sure that Climate Control would be the appropriate section for this topic but...

Yesterday as I was running errands, returning to my car I noticed some wetness underneath my muffler area. When I got home I checked it out and it is water, but should I be concerned about the amount of water in that area? It appears it has left visible marks in the shape of an L on each end of the muffler. Could this possibly be condensation from the air vents in the back seat?

Thanks!

-Amanda

Amanda, water is a normal by-product of burning gasoline in an internal combustion engine and seeing water dripping from your tail pipe or muffler is completely normal. Many mufflers (maybe all of them) have small holes in them to allow water to drain. You have a good eye to notice that.

And if they don't have a hole yet or from the factory they will eventually create their own ;)
