SP-531 vs SP-530 Spark Plugs?

I just heard back from my sources. As that information is proprietary, I'm unable to provide it. It's recommended that you use the same as what was originally equipped, unless a TSB/FSA updated it, which your dealer would be able to determine.

Not your fault but that answer doesn't make sense because when you go to OEM Motorcraft Parts and look up the spark plug for the 2013 (that came with SP-531's) it lists SP-530's as the replacement. There is no TSB or FSA that corrects this confusion and we have given it a hard look.

In addition, I just called my Dealer and asked the Parts Dept what spark plugs go in my 2013 FFH, I was told SP-530 were the replacement part spark plugs, not the same that originally came with the car.

 

At this point, I am confident that Ford wants the 2013 FFH's to be equipped with SP-530 spark plugs, not what was installed at the factory in 2012.

All the later M/Y FFH's came with SP-530's too.

 

I am glad I changed mine to the correct spark plug. You folks with early FFH's that have the SP-531 spark plugs installed might give this some thought.

YMMV, and it might be in a good way.

 

Edit: I bought mine at AutoZone for $7.99 plus tax.

BTW Paul, according to the Motorcraft OEM Parts Catalog your C-Max replacement spark plugs are SP-530 too. You are running the wrong plugs.
