Time for new tires on 2013 FFH SE

Well it is that time. Time to replace the original Goodyear tire on our 2013 FFH. I checked at all the normal tire retailers/on-line and then stopped in to our local Ford dealer. He was able to beat the price on a couple of tires that I had at the top of my list. so I am having them install the tires.

 

Dropping the car off Saturday morning to have Pirelli Cinturato P7 All Season Plus tires installed. Kept going back and forth between the Pirellis and the Continentals but decided on the Pirellis due to the the ratings on Tire Rack.

 

Looking forward to replacing the Goodyears. The Goodyears were starting to get squirelly on wet roads.

 

Went with these Pirelli Cinturato P7 All Season Plus, Size: 235/45R18

Your dealer will likely rotate those tires for you at no charge. And if you also go to your dealer for oil changes (Quick Lane?) it is very convenient to have both chores taken care of during the same visit.

Let us know how you like the Pirelli's. I bet you are amazed at how much better the car handles and rides compared with the LS2's.

How many of these are LRR (Low Rolling Resistance) tires, including the OEM Goodyears? When the original LRR tires on our Camry (they were Michelins) wore out we were shocked by the cost of replacements and bought conventional tires from the regional tire purveyor we've used for decades (Les Schwab for those who have been in the NW US). The hit on gas mileage was so much that I calculated it would have cost less to buy the Michelins even with the higher purchase price and greater wear.

 

I must admit that I haven't even looked at the tires on the Fusion. I don't even know what brand they are! But with 30k miles on it and putting on 17k per year expect to have to start looking before too long.

I only looked at the LRR tires. Started at Tirerack and worked from there. Will post a review once they are installed.

Had the Pirelli tires installed and what a difference. I have only driven the car about 50 miles but the ride is noticeably smoother.

 

Since it is my wife's car and she is the primary driver, I was waiting to see if she would make a comment before posting. Last night she mentioned that the ride in her car is so much better than before. She says it is smooth and more responsive.

 

Since she noticed, I can say that the tires were a winner.

 

I checked the mpg display before installing and noticed that last night the current mileage was up, so it looks like there is no hit on mileage.

After reading jeffo65's review and throughly reading most reviews on Tire Rack, I had Pirelli Cinturato P7 All Season Plus tires installed this past Saturday. As mentioned, what a difference from the stock 225/50/17 Michelin Energy Savers. I had 43,000 miles on them and was starting to hear more road noise. They needed to be replaced because of a bad alignment and uneven wear (thanks to the DC area roads).

 

The car is much quieter and handles great. I confirmed in my own head today that I made a good choice by taking a 82 mile round trip and got 52mpg. This is a normal mpg for this trip with the Michelins. I'm sure the Conti's are a good choice also.

We have seen no hit in our MPGs with the Pirellis. The MPGs have actually been a bit higher compared to what was usually obtained with the original Goodyears.

On my 17" Pirelli's, I have mine set at 38psi. After 2 1/2 weeks of use, I'm still getting the same great mileage as before. Drove in the rain for the first time last night and noticed improved handling.

I believe ours are at 38psi as well. I would have to check to be sure.
