I own 3 Fords, a FFH, C-max energi and a Mustang GT. All three of these cars have outstanding recalls with no parts available. This makes me a little anxious about Ford and its commitment to support the cars it makes. I can get almost any part for my 1979 Triumph. Triumph made its last car in 1981.

That's probably a consequence of just in time manufacturing. They only ordered enough parts to meet the build demand. I have an outstanding recall to replace all four door handles. Their supplier will have to ramp up production of the new handles to meet the sudden unexpected demand. Once the emergency is over their demand will drop back to where it was before the recall.The supplier is unlikely to expand their manufacturing capability to meet a known short term demand. I don't expect to see the replacements anytime soon.

What recall is for the door handles?

 

We have the outstanding recall #15S16 for the replacement of door latches but not handles. What is wrong with your handles?

You are correct, it does say latches. I assumed the whole assembly would be replaced.
