What is that Led bar that lights up when you start the car and then goes out?

Collision avoidance warning. It lights up when starting to test it. Just like all the rest of your dash lights.

If you are at a Ford dealer....I implore you to find another dealer....fast. This is pretty basic.

HUD

The HUD contains the red Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) that warn the driver of a possible collision event when commanded by the CCM.

There are certain situations when the warning Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) cannot be seen, such as strong sunlight or when wearing sunglasses. The HUD module has a temperature sensor circuit that is integral to the module that senses the temperature of the Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) internal to the module. When a high passenger compartment temperature such as strong sunlight is sensed by the temperature sensor, the warning Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) can be temporarily disengaged. If this occurs, only the audible warning chime is used. Warnings may not appear if the distance to the vehicle ahead is very small or if the steering wheel and pedal movements are large, for example, due to a very active driving style.

As hermans stated, if your dealer doesn't know find another - QUICK! I will tell you (from experimenting) that when that goes off, you're pretty close to a collision from the car standpoint and you will have NO DOUBT at all that it's going off!

The OP did not state who it was that did not know what the LED bar was. It may have been a new and/or incompetent service writer. This could be a dealership that should be quickly dumped but on the other hand it could be a decent service department with an incompetent employee that makes the entire service department look bad.
