Sirius XM Radio issue

Hello,

 

I pay for a SiriusXM subscription, and I use it on a daily basis. I have noticed a few issues with the reception however.

 

On my way to work and home, I go through a decent length tunnel. My Sirius XM drops signal in the tunnel. The really weird part is, my dads GMC pickup with has XM does NOT loose signal in the same tunnel, and one of my coworkers 2014 F150 also does not loose signal in the tunnel.

 

Obviously, satalite radio needs clear view of the sky, but they do make terrestrial repeaters for cities with tall buildings. What I am wondering is why does my dad's pickup and my coworkers pickup both keep signal when my vehicle looses it? Has anyone else noticed this if they have multiple vehicles with Sirius XM radios, where their fusion looses signal in places your other keeps it?

I have the same problem. As i pull into my garage I lose the signal about half way in, and I live where there is alot of overhead tree canopy and always lose the signal. When the trial is over in my Escape I will not purchase their product.

It has been previously stated that SiriusXM still uses two technologies, the Sirius tech & the XM tech. The XM tech is supposed to be superior. Fords come with Sirius tech. Perhaps the GMC has XM technology and thus it works better. When we had a Toyota, with XM tech, we found that the signal quality was much better than in the Ford.

Yeah same here, Honda Accord had XM. Mine dropped out and his didn't. Guess the antenna just isn't very good.

Ugh. Is there any way to fix this SiriusXM issue? It's killing me to have drop outs while driving in even light rain.

We have very few drop outs, with the exception of pulling into the garage. But we will not be renewing at the end of this month.

Whenever I've had Sirius, it drops out for a second even when driving under an overpass. Bluetooth streaming has better sound quality anyhow. Too bad Ford didn't offer us any apps in MFT to make it easier to use...

I live in a very dense tree lined city. Siruis always droped off during the free trial.

Dropouts seemingly everywhere, but my wife doesn't mind and she's in Fusion more than I am. So we've renewed. I almost exclusively just listen to podcasts while driving and don't use any radio at all.

In my experience a Sirius radio is more prone to dropouts than an XM radio. I suspect that the XM satellites operate at a higher power.

They utilise different satellites in different orbits. Thats why the dropouts. In the mountains on Highway 1 near where I live in BC, there are spots up to 20 miles long I had no reception on my XM Hyundai where both my Ranger and HyTi excel.
