Regional Program 15R01: Safety Recall 15S14 – Supplement #2

Recommended Posts

This Safety Recall 15R01 - Supplement #2 was added today to include certain 2013-2015 Model Year Fusion and MKZ and 2015 Model Year Edge Vehicles Not Covered Under Safety Recall 15S14 - Steering Gear Motor Bolt Corrosion.

--

In my case this Steering Bolt Corrosion Recall #15S14 did not previously apply to my California FFH.

I just looked and it is now listed as a Recall for my car under this additional Supplement.

My FFH now has four Outstanding Field Service Actions listed on OASIS.

• 14S21

RESTRAINTS CONTROL MODULE REPLACEMENT

• 15S16

DOOR LATCH REPLACEMENT

• 15E03

POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE REPROGRAMMING

• 15R01

EPS MOTOR BOLTS - REGIONAL

It is also showing up for my early 2014 build FFH.

However, I don't think I really want the dealership messing with my FFH since my car most likely won't be seeing any road salts for at least the next 9 years.

And for those who occasionally drive in those type conditions, I wonder how much is exposed to the elements since that fiberglass-type cover is on the bottom and tends to keep that type of stuff out of the area, unless it's outside of that area and more exposed.

Jeff,

Have you also received that letter from Ford? I'm surprised VA is not part of the affected states...

Yeah I think I got one a few weeks ago for 15R01, but didn't pay it much mind as it needs to get in line behind 14S21 (RCM), 15E03 (PCM Update), and 15S16 (Door Latches).

I will be changing oil in her car next week, will have a chance to see just well that fiberglass covers things and how exposed things are.

Funny that you say that. Just right now I was going through all my pending recalls and I have exactly the same line...

Keep us updated about what you find out.

Jeff,

I was there today for the 3 first recalls and they also performed 15R01 without telling me. Did you end up doing it, too?

No, I only got the 15E03 and 14S21 done... and going to get the same for her blue one in the next few weeks, but will see if they can do the 15R01 inspection on hers and see how it looks.

I hope everything goes well. They told me yesterday that it would take more than a day to do everything, however it didn't end up taking more than half a day, because they had 2 technicians working on it.

This is interesting. I'm wondering how they determine the cars to include. If someone purchases a car in Texas and then moves to Green Bay, would Ford track the registration or go by the location of the selling dealer? Or if there was a dealer trade. Maybe our Ford Service Rep could chime in on this one.

15R01 just showed up on my car, too. I bought it in California, but moved to Texas last year. My car is scheduled for its second 10,000 mile maintenance on Friday, when they were also going to do the door latches, restraints control module, and reprogramming.

I now show that my 2015 FFH needs 15R01 EPS MOTOR BOLTS - REGIONAL and I live in Abingdon VA. I all ready have 24K on mine and not even close to being a year old. Love this version. I had the 2010 and after 128K it got totaled and replace it with this one. This one is at least twice as good as my old one.

Hi tr7driver,

I'm Crystal; I'll be keeping an eye on things here whiel Meagan is out of the office. Recalls are assigned by VIN and are sent out based on the vehicle's registration information/address. Let me know if you have any other questions!

Thanks for the Info Crystal. I'm surprised that I have not been included in this one living here in the rust belt. I'm scheduled to get 2 items taken care of next week, so I think I'll ask them to check on this as well.

Sounds like a plan, tr7driver. Let me know how things go at the dealership. How many miles are on your Fusion?

Got this settled on Friday along with the 14S21 airbag control module recall. Still waiting on 15S16.

I also learned that dealerships are required to give you a free one-day rental (additional days can be charged for) if the work you're bringing the car in for is entirely about recalls. It was a pleasant surprise since the dealer I normally use charges $20/day for rentals. Previously I combined minor recall work (e.g. 15E03) with a scheduled service appointment on the same day and they didn't give free rentals.
