lolder Report post Posted June 12, 2015 Take it to the Ford dealer.

lolder Report post Posted June 13, 2015 (edited) Well you can do that but then take it to the Ford dealer. It indicates "Throttle control/Powertrain malfunction" and nobody should fool with it except Ford. Go to the dealer immediately. FernMTL Report post Posted June 13, 2015 The wrench is only a reminder that you're due for a service at the dealer (oil change especially). It is programmed to light up after a certain period of time/miles. It is reset at the dealer after service.Nothing to do with your check engine light. I had the wrench show up once on my 2010 FFH, at 66k miles when the O2 sensor went out of range for whatever reason that needed replacement. The car now has over 200k miles and that was the only time the wrench light ever came on.

Contact an authorized dealer as soon as possible.Note: If your vehicle detects certain faults, it will not allow you to operate the accelerator pedal. If this happens, press the brake pedal and release it. This will activate limp home vehicle operation. In limp home vehicle operation, your vehicle will accelerate in a controlled manner up to a maximum speed of 35 mph (56 km/h) on a flat surface. If you apply the brake pedal or move the transmission to neutral (N) you can override your vehicle’s acceleration.
GrySql Report post Posted June 13, 2015 As lolder has mentioned twice, take it to the Ford Dealer. From the 2010 Owners Manual regarding the Wrench Icon on the instrument panel:
lolder Report post Posted June 14, 2015 This can be as simple as a software update which may increase the motor/electronics coolant pump operation. You still need to take it to the dealer. It is NOT a service reminder..
FernMTL Report post Posted June 16, 2015 Good to know, tought the CEL lights up when there's a mechanical problem.
lolder Report post Posted June 16, 2015 CEL is usually an emissions fault, not a powertrain fault.
