What car is that?

Sorta funny story.

On Friday's we pick up the 10 year old granddaughter after school and as usual we headed off to an early dinner. After we exited the cafe there was a lady customer taking a cigarette break in the parking lot, standing right in front of our FFH, looking at it. The FFH was freshly washed and sparkling clean.

As I hit the unlock key and did a global open on the windows she asked me 'what kind of car is that, I love the way it looks, do you like it?'.

 

I am always happy to give a good review of my FFH and explained it was a hybrid, got good mileage, has lots of accessories available and was very quiet and comfortable to drive. She stopped me and said 'my husband wants to buy a Ford Fusion - but I like this car!'

That was when it got cute - as I explained that this was a Ford Fusion she was flabbergasted and started laughing. We chatted for a few minutes, did a walk around and she was all thumbs up as we left, quietly, as FFH's do.

 

I got a smile out of that little conversation, this car has produced many of that type discussion with bystanders, but that one was special.

Reminds me of an encounter in a grocery store a few years ago, and swear I'm not making this up:

 

As we walked in the front of the store they had a large bin of sweet corn, among the various specials on display.

 

We were in the back part of the store where the produce was, and I said to my wife "hey look, sweet corn 25 cents each, want some?"

 

This guy was walking by and excitedly gave me the tip "don't get it back here, there's a big bin up front where they are selling it 8 for 2 dollars!"

A million years ago I used to manage a high volume chain grocery store, we had lots of tricks like that. Sometimes we'd raise the price from 30 cents to 3 for $1 and sell out. Other times we'd push a poor selling item back, bring all the surrounding stock flush to the front and put a red regular price tag on the ones we pushed back, making it look like those cans of Scrapple were flying off the shelves.

Marketing, gotta love it... Lol. PT Barnum stuff.

Driving through an affulant country club and one person in a foursome sees my FFH, alerts the others. They all stop to admire the car as I drive by. Awesome!

Week later, caught a lowered a Fusion coming up on my right side so slowed down to get a better look as it drove along side me. 'Cept if wasn't a Fusion, but an Aston Martin. Couldn't help but feel for the guy.
